The Verve’s second album, A Northern Soul, has a heavier and more traditionally psychedelic sound compared to their debut album, A Storm in Heaven. Although it lacks the shoegazer-style elements of their previous album, it is equally epic in scope. Richard Ashcroft’s songs are emotionally charged and reflect the chaotic energy of the album.
