They came from some of the most popular, if not polarizing hardcore bands of the early 90s (SHELTER, 108, RESSURECTION), but by the time TEXAS IS THE REASON formed in 1994, a new aesthetic crystallized almost instantly and reduced its members previous efforts to history. Indeed, it was only a year later, when Revelation Records released the bands self-titled EP their name derived from a lyric in the MISFITS song Bullet that TEXAS IS THE REASON were already headlining their own tours in America and well on their way to defining a new moment in post-punk. TEXAS IS THE REASONs self-titled TX30 Special Edition 12 EP is the first of three upcoming releases that mark the 30th anniversary of the band and its landmark album, Do You Know Who You Are?. It includes the bonus track Something to Forget (Version I) which was originally released in 1995 on a limited split 7 with SAMUEL. Something to Forget (Version II) went on to be included on 1996s Do You Know Who You Are? with a more polished production, thanks to J. Robbins (JAWBOX) producing the album. These TX30 Special Edition pressings will chart the bands three chronological stages across three intentionally-prepared 12-inch recordsfrom their earliest recordings to their debut album to the bands final three songs, written for and originally conceived as the beginning of a second album that was never completed before their 1997 breakup. Each release will include expanded art and booklets featuring never-before-seen photos, flyers, and other means of telling the bands story. The three releases will be joined by specially designed obi strips, devised to create a visually cohesive set.
