Hailing from Duluth, Minnesota, Low is a three-piece band that defies genre expectations and has been making music since 1993. Comprised of guitarist/vocalist Alan Sparhawk, percussionist/vocalist Mimi Parker, and bassist Zak Sally, the band has received critical acclaim and admiration from fellow musicians, such as Radiohead. Initially known for their slowcore sound, Low has expanded their repertoire to include elements of pop, R&B, and dissonant rock n’ roll. With their Sub Pop debut, The Great Destroyer, Low once again surprised fans and critics alike with a dynamic blend of austere melodies and aggressive guitar work. Co-produced by the band and David Fridmann, The Great Destroyer showcases Low’s evolution and deftly melds their varied styles into one cohesive album. Overall, The Great Destroyer is a welcome surprise and a revelation that solidifies Low’s place as a groundbreaking and influential band.
