- Nile Rodgers, who had started his career in the house band of the legendary Apollo Theatre in Harlem, and bassist Bernard Edwards, who sadly died suddenly in 1996, launched their Chic Organization Ltd. in New York in 1976
It quickly advanced to become the essential beat and pulse generator of a decade inspired by disco grooves and fusion chords, after early hits like “Everybody Dance” and “Le Freak” defined its style with equal success. Today, it’s pop common knowledge that Edwards’ bass line from “Good Times” gave the Sugar Hill Gang the hip-hop initial spark of “Rapper’s Delight” and also heavily inspired Queen and “Another One Bites The Dust.”
Every lover of the genre knows that it was this formation that made its mark on the disco scene from 1977 onwards and that Bernard Edwards and Nile Rodgers helped other young musicians to stardom, including Madonna, Sister Sledge and Duran Duran. Every track on this compilation is a hit. - Artist: Chic Label: Atlantic Format: LP Units: 1 Country: Europe Genre: Soul & Funk Style: Disco
