Laufey is a Los Angeles-based singer, composer, and multi-instrumentalist. She creates jazz songs about young love and self-discovery that are full of wonder and wanderlust. Growing up between Reykjavk and Washington D.C. and making yearly visits to Beijing, Laufey was inspired by her violinist mother to play cello and piano. After discovering her father’s records, she became enamored with the jazz standards of Ella Fitzgerald. Her debut album, “Everything I Know About Love,” blends modern song structures and sensibilities with the classic musical stylings and instrumentation she learned as a violinist, translating intimate coming-of-age feelings into grand cinematic moments. The album features sweeping orchestral arrangements and soft jazz vocals that harken back to the golden-age Hollywood musicals. The second pressing of “Everything I Know About Love” includes the viral hit “Valentine.”
