• The nocturnal hustle and bustle of the Congolese city was the inspiration for BUTU, which means “the night” in Lingala. The experimental record delves deep into the heart of the chaotic place and celebrates the joyful and creative spirit of its inhabitants. With vocalist Makara Bianko at the helm and production by Xavier Thomas, aka Dbruit, the group channels a more electronic, upbeat sound with the follow-up to Fongola. BUTU is a replication of the frenetic feel of this dynamic nightlife – devices pushed to their limits through saturated and distorted speakers, or the sonic push and pull of sounds after dark.
