FROM THE DESK OF GOOD MORNING

Were happy to let you know that we have two new songs coming out. They are entitled “Dog Years” and “Queen of Comedy.”

Please see below for some key pieces of information about the songs as a whole, and some special comments about each song from the one of us that wrote it

– The songs were written, recorded and produced by us in our old studio in Preston, Victoria

– We mixed them earlier this year with Tyler Karmen in Joshua Tree, CA

– Its our first new music since Out to Pasture / Misery in early 2022

– Its our first new music since weve started living in different parts of the world from one another

– Liam is living in London and Stefan is living in various parts of the world

– No, it hasnt made being in the band particularly difficult

– The single artwork is a photo Stefan took of the kitchen in our old studio

– The pink Mocca Master coffee maker in the picture was Liams favourite piece of gear in the studio

DOG YEARS (Liam)

– First song I have written under the influence of marijuana in several years, and probably the last for several more

– Cant believe Im writing this sentence, but Liz Phair graciously allowed us to use some lyrics from Fuck and Run for the end of the song. Thanks Liz Phair!

– Its about all kinds of stuff that I have no interest in talking about publicly, sorry

– It kinda sounds like Bruce Springsteen if he made evil clown synth pop?

– Its heavily informed by two pieces of kit that we had picked up for our studio: an E-Bow, and a UDO Super 6 Synthesiser

– It has backup vocals by Greer Clemens & Dannika Horvat, the first other singing voices on a Good Morning record

QUEEN OF COMEDY (Stefan)

– Written while living with an ex during a period of fairly heavy alcoholism. Dont recommend

– Features a string quartet made up of Chloe Sanger (violin, arrangement), Lucy Rash (violin), Jenny Thomas (viola) & Kiya Van Der Linden-Kian (cello)

– The guitar playing was very informed by Blake Mills Mutable Set

– When working on the string arrangement, I asked Chloe to make it sound like a less French version of Serge Gainsbourgs Melody

– While the first few lines may seem like it, it is not a song about having a god complex

Thanks for reading!
