The Black Keys released their fourth album in five years, which reflects their consistent momentum. Auerbach explained that the band kept recording without taking any breaks. After reuniting in 2019 for “Let’s Rock” following a five-year hiatus, they swiftly followed up with the 2021 release of Delta Kream, featuring covers of Mississippi hill-country songs. Their rapid-fire approach continued with the 2022 release of Dropout Boogie, marking the first time the duo worked with outside writers, including Greg Cartwright of Memphis rockers Reigning Sound and Angelo Petraglia, known for his work with Kings of Leon and Taylor Swift. Cartwright and Petraglia collaborated once more for Ohio Players.
