Originally released in 2005, ColesCorner was Hawley’s third studio album and his first for Mute Records, recorded at Sheffield’s Yellow Arch Studios. Co-produced with long-time collaborator Colin Elliot and Mike Timm, it featured a top-tier ensemble including Shez Sheridan (guitars), Jon Trier (keys), Jonny Wood (bass), and Andy Cook (drums). Drawing from vintage ’40s and ’50s influences-chamber pop, country, and early rock ‘n’ roll – Coles Corner is a deeply nostalgic suite of love songs laced with longing, melancholy, and an unmistakable sense of place.
