Joy Division / Warsaw Live in England 1977/1978 (12-Inch Album on 180g Transparent Black/Grey Splatter Vinyl)
- WMWK73081482
Originally named Warsaw, Joy Division were formed in Salford in 1976. By their first official gig, in 1977, they were already the talk of NME, and RCA led a rush to sign the band.
The band spent the first week of May 1978 recording at Manchesters Arrow Studios. The eleven tracks recorded are now known collectively as the RCA Sessions. The band was disappointed with the labels post-production work and the deal fell through, with the album being scrapped.
An interesting historical and musical testimony to Joy Divisions early artistic qualities, this release presents the RCA Sessions alongside the earliest Warsaw demos, recorded in 1977.
