• Released in 1981, Neuromantic is one of Yukihiro Takahashis most refined solo statements outside his work with Yellow Magic Orchestra. The album blends elegant synth-pop, new wave, and art-pop with a distinctly cosmopolitan feel, drawing inspiration from the early-1980s British New Romantic scene. Takahashi recorded the album with an impressive cast including Roxy Music members Phil Manzanera and Andy Mackay and New Musiks Tony Mansfield, while YMO bandmates Ryuichi Sakamoto and Haruomi Hosono also contributed. The result is a polished, melodic record that highlights Takahashis rhythmic sensibility and understated vocal style while leaning further into pop structure than the more experimental side of YMO.
