• “13” is the first and only The Doors compilation released by the band while lead singer Jim Morrison was still alive. Originally released on 30. November 1970 by Elektra Records, the title refers to the thirteen tracks from their five studio albums released up to that date.

  13 was a project initiated by Elektra Records. Morrison even agreed to shave off his beard for the album cover photo shoot, but the label ended up opting for a younger photo of the singer, which they had also taken for the group’s live album Absolutely Live, released in July of that year.
