Jazz legend Thelonious Monk made his earliest recordings as a leader for Blue Note in 1947 and over the next fiveyears Alfred Lion recorded the pianist in a variety of settings documenting his utterly unique music. The 1956 vinylcompilation, Genius of Modern Music, Vol. 2 (BLP 1511), featured classic Monk compositions including Straight NoChaser, Four In One and Monks Mood. This Blue Note Classic Vinyl Edition is mono, all-analog, mastered byKevin Gray, and pressed on 180g vinyl at Optimal.
